Step 3: Geocode Options

For Geocoding:

After making your selections in Step 2: Input Options, you are ready to select options that affect the geocoding process and results.

  1. Country
If you have mapped the country field in Step 2, then this field will be disabled and no action is required. If the country has not been mapped, use the drop-down menu to select the country that applies to all of the addresses in your input address record file.
Note: If your file contains addresses from multiple countries, it is recommended to map the country column in step 2 for the right results.
  2. Match Mode
Select the leniency to be used when making a match between your input address records and the reference data. Your selection should be based on the quality of your input data and your desired output. For example, if your input records contain a lot of incomplete information, you may want to select the Relaxed setting.
    OptionDescription
Standard This is the default mode, and generally provides the best balance of accurate geocoding, few false matches, and high performance. This requires a close (not necessarily exact) street name match.
Relaxed This provides less strict matching rules. In general, the Relaxed setting increases your chances of getting a close match but performance (geocoding speed) may not be as good.
Exact Requires a very tight match. This restrictive mode generates the fewest match candidates, which decreases the processing time. When using this setting, ensure that your input address data is very clean - free of misspellings and incomplete addresses.
  3. To complete Step 3, click Start Geocoding Job. To return to the Step 2: Input Options page, click Back. To abort this step and return to your MapMarker Dashboard, click Cancel.
Step Result: The job will start and your MapMarker Dashboard launches where you can view and access your Geocoding Results. A pop-up also displays "Your job has been successfully started. We will email you when the job completes.".

    For Reverse Geocoding:

After making your selections in Step 2: Input Options, you are ready to select Distance and Coordinate System
    1. Using the drop-down menu, select the desired Distance either as Meters or Feet and provide a value.
    2. Using the drop-down menu, select the desired EPSG Coordinate System as per the input file Latitude/Longitude values.
    3. Click Start Job.
